The article presents the quality assurance of higher education in France and reveals system structure peculiar features. authors characterize activity national agencies for external internal assessment. We show that formation French has lasted three decades. periodization shaping is determined based on reforming principal agency quality. illustrates legislative documents regulate assurance. believe a specific feature its subordination to (ENQA EQAR) at EU level. regulated by legal («Standards recommendations EHEA»(ESG)) European level; number laws, including Law Finance (2001), Freedom Responsibility Universities (2007), Higher Education Research (2013); handbooks form norms procedures assessing universities. provided through assessment self-assessment universities specificity system’s lies variety their powers. High Council Evaluation (Hcéres) an independent body. others are Inspectorate General Public Administration Training (IGAENR), Commission Chartered Engineers (CTI), Management Diplomas (CEFDG) Advisory National University Institutes Technology (CCN-IUT). have sectoral focus work segment, relying control procedures.
